Meatloaf Burgers

Ingredients

  • 2 TBS olive oil
  • 1 small onion, very finely diced
  • 1 rib celery, finely diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 pound package ground beef, pork and veal (if these are not sold packaged together, buy 1/2 pound of each)
  • 1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 TBS tomato paste
  • 1 TBS worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup plus 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tsp salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 6 hamburger buns

These full-flavored burgers are so easy – especially because they’re baked on a sheet tray – no grill needed!

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degress.

Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering and cook the onion, celery and garlic for about 5 minutes or until softened. Set aside to cool.

Mix together the meat, breadcrumbs, tomato paste, worcestershire sauce, 1/3 cup of ketchup and salt. Season with pepper. Add the cooled vegetables and mix well sing your hands or a wooden spoon.

Shape the meat into six patties and arrange on a baking sheet. Spread 1 TB ketchup on each burger and bake for about 25 minutes or until cooked through.

Serve tucked inside the hamburger buns.
