Tuna Tartare


  • 1/2 pound sushi-quality tuna
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon wasabi powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Makes 2 dozen hors d’oeuvres or 4 appetizer servings


Cut the tuna into 1/4-inch slices, then cut lengthwise into strips and across into 1/4-inch dice. Place in a small bowl.


Add the ginger oil, wasabi, sesame seeds, cilantro, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and pepper. Stir to combine, then set aside for a few minutes to let the flavors develop.


Taste and add a bit more salt if necessary.
